Late Victorian 15ct Gold Bar Brooch with Diamonds & Split Pearls c.1900
 
A beautifully preserved late‑Victorian 15ct gold bar brooch, crafted in rich buttery yellow gold and set with two lively old mine‑cut diamonds that flank its central motif like tiny stars. The design is wonderfully architectural: a twisted linear bar intersected by an open circular form, all tied together with an elegant ribbon‑like scroll that softens the geometry with a flourish of movement.
 
Set into that scrolling ribbon is a graduated pair of split pearls — glowing softly — accompanied by additional pearl simulants typical of the period. The diamonds, each secured in six claws, bring a bright, charismatic sparkle that lifts the whole piece.
 
The reverse is fitted with its original pin stem and hooked C‑clasp, and — in a thoughtful nod to the brooch’s intended life of activity — a safety chain with pin and clip, perfect for horse riding, cycling, or any spirited pursuit where one might prefer not to lose a treasure. The brooch is stamped 15CT, and XRF analysis confirms the entire body (excluding the pin) as 15‑carat gold.
