Circa 1940, this exquisite ring is crafted from 18-carat white gold alloyed with palladium and platinum, bearing the distinctive "PLAT PALL 18CT" stamps. Before 1999, it was not possible to officially hallmark mixed-metal items, so manufacturers honestly indicated the materials by stamping multiple metal marks. The "18CT" denotes the gold purity, while "PLAT" and "PALL" reveal the presence of high-quality platinum and palladium alloys. Palladium gained prominence in the early 20th century as a superior metal to whiten gold, surpassing nickel and silver.
This size N ring features three natural diamonds. The centre stone is a dazzling old mine cut diamond of approximately 0.69 carats, bezel-set in a gently rectangular frame. Its bezel setting is uniquely decorated with two halves of a heart touching—arguably the most romantic bezel design ever seen.
Flanking the centre stone are two round brilliant-cut diamonds, each in multi-claw settings and estimated at 0.110 carats each. The total carat weight of the diamonds is approximately 0.91 carats.
A splendid example of vintage elegance, this ring combines period-appropriate mixed metals with a distinctive, romantic setting, making it a truly remarkable piece from the late Art Deco era.
