There’s nothing like an early 20th Century rectangular cushion-cut aquamarine and old European cut diamond stock pin brooch to take your breath away! With 5.90 cm of sleek polished finish and glittering gems, crafted in yellow gold testing between 9ct and 12ct by XRF analysis. The front displays a subtle layer of fine white metal, its untarnished surface suggesting a high‑quality finish chosen to complement the aquamarine and diamonds without competing with it (please see valuation for more information).

Set at the centre is a glittering rectangular cushion‑cut natural aquamarine, Gemologist estimated at 1.51ct, in a lovely light blue, the sort of stone that catches the light with that unmistakable old‑world charm. The aquamarine is flanked on each side by old European cut natural diamonds totalling approximately 0.240ct. The millegrain finished bezel settings add extra sparkle whilst protecting the stones. This wonderful jewel is absolutely gorgeous, and I can't stop looking at it and holding it while I enjoy its sparkle. Typical of jewelled stock pin bar brooches, it's all clean lines and quiet sophistication.

A rollover safety clasp is used to secure the brooch and there is the option to add an additional safety chain to a tiny internal loop if desired.

This is a piece that slips effortlessly into modern life. Worn as a rider’s stock pin, it would look razor‑sharp and utterly classic. On a tailored business suit, it becomes a subtle signature — a quiet declaration of taste. And for collectors, it offers something even rarer: a jewel that is both beautiful and genuinely useful, a piece of history that still performs its function flawlessly.

  • Timeless versatility — It works with equestrian attire, business wear, evening dress, or even as a decorative fastening on knitwear or scarves.

  • A signature detail — A bar brooch adds polish and individuality without overwhelming an outfit.

  • As part of the circular economy, this item has been pre-treasured and loved. As is typical for an item of this age, there are a few fine scratches on the gold, and an attractive patina that speaks to its history. These characteristics are commensurate with the age of this exquisite antique item and do not detract from its overall beauty and charm. Instead, they add to its unique character and authenticity as a genuine piece of history.

The combination of features — including the old European‑cut diamonds, the streamlined bar form, and the presence of a thin white facing over a gold body — strongly supports a date within the Art Deco period (circa 1915–1935). the hinge style was of a style introduced during the 1920-30s period. The fusion-line visible where the fine white metal meets the gold are consistent with early white‑metal techniques used during periods when platinum was restricted due to wartime demand. These construction traits, together with the overall aesthetic, align closely with jewellery produced in the interwar years.
