Antique Victorian Albertina Chain Bracelet, circa 1880 – a truly exquisite example of late Victorian jewellery, modelled in sterling silver and full of characterful detail throughout.
Description
The piece features decorative foxtail chain and rope chain linking with shaped foliate terminals, a finely executed barley twist T-bar and a classic dog clip swivel fastener. Suspended from the chain is a delicate heart tassel—elongated and textured—alongside a beautifully detailed shell pendant slider; every element has been skilfully crafted, celebrating the quality and artistry so beloved in the period. Once intended to suspend a lady’s pocketwatch in the days when gentlemen wore their own Albert or Double Albert, this feminine chain now finds new life gracing the wrist of a modern antique jewellery lover.
The abundant motifs—hearts and seashells—suggest this may have been a sentimental gift for someone with a fondness for the summer and the seaside, perhaps from a sweetheart. The item has been checked and the pendant slide secured by our jeweller, ensuring it sits neatly and comfortably when worn as a bracelet. Approximate length of chain from dog clip to T-bar where it could be closed is 19.5cm.
A delightful antique chain, brimming with character and history—ready to be worn and enjoyed for many more years to come.
